Developing Professional Careers
Our chapter's main focus is to develop professional careers of health care financial leadership and management. My vision is to have our chapter become the premier resource in guiding your career growth.
To assist you with your professional development, our chapter offers a variety of resources. CT HFMA sponsors education courses, publishes a quarterly newsletter, social networking through Linked-In, schedules social events and resource opportunities. This web site is our primary source to communicate with you.
When I entered health care in the early 70's, Connecticut Chapter HFMA career development revolved solely around monthly chapter meetings held at the Yankee Silversmith in Wallingford. You had to attend this monthly meeting since it was the only opportunity to network with your peers, and learn what was going on at the state and national level.
The opportunities available for career development have changed dramatically with technological changes and time constraints. Our chapter provides this web site as just one of our chapter's career developing tools to help our members stay connected. Our website provides information about our chapter including our leadership, dates for upcoming educational programs and social events, chapter newsletters and links to the HFMA National website.
Using this web site, attending our chapter educational programs and national HFMA programs will assist you with your career growth. Attend our social events and meet your peers. Become a certified member and keep current on the many changes in the healthcare financial field and add this prestigious title to your resume. It is our desire that chapter membership brings great value to you as you advance through your health care financial management career. This can be achieved when you are an active member of the CT HFMA Chapter.
Our chapter takes great pride in the numerous Connecticut Hospital and Health Care CEOs who are long time active members and/or leaders of our chapter. Hopefully, some of you aspire to join those ranks. But whatever career track you choose in health care financial management, our chapter is ready to assist you and to listen to your needs and suggestions.
So please use your membership. Take the time to make use of this web site and all the other career building opportunities provided by the Connecticut HFMA Chapter.
I hope to meet many of you and hear first hand how our chapter is doing and how it can better serve your professional career.
